  • Professor in the Hubert Department of Global Health of the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University, with a joint appointment in the Department of Epidemiology. 
  • Degrees in nutrition (BSc, University of London, England) and epidemiology (MPH, PhD, Columbia University, New York, USA). 
  • Expertise in nutritional and life-course epidemiology, with a focus on longitudinal research in low and middle-income country contexts. 
  • Principal Investigator of the long-running INCAP Nutritional Supplementation Longitudinal Study, following a cohort of individuals who participated as children in a nutrition supplementation trial in Guatemala. 
  • In collaboration with researchers in Brazil, Guatemala, India, the Philippines and South Africa as well as in England and the US, he studies the development of adult health and human capital. 
  • Secondary interests: methodologies of dietary assessment and program evaluation and has published 300 peer-reviewed manuscripts.  
  • Fellow of the American Society for Nutrition. 
  • Past Chair of the Global Nutrition Council of the American Society of Nutrition and is Associate Editor of the Journal of Nutrition
