Dr. Alexandros K. Kanellopoulos
Neuroscientist at Nestlé R&D, Lausanne, Switzerland
Dr. Kanellopoulos completed a degree in Molecular Biology & Genetics at the Democritus University of Thrace, Greece. Then he obtained an MD and PhD from the Kapodistrian University of Athens in Athens, Greece. Following his PhD, he investigated the synaptic mechanisms underlying neurodevelopmental disorders, such as autism, as a postdoctoral fellow at the KU Leuven and VIB in Belgium. In 2016, he joined the Department of Fundamental Neurosciences at the University of Lausanne as a senior scientist and later junior group leader. His research focused on the molecular and behavioural mechanisms underlying the pathophysiology of neurodevelopmental diseases. He has a solid record with several publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, several awards and awarded grants as PI and more than 15 years of experience in genetics, molecular biology and neurodevelopment. Dr Kanellopoulos joined the Neurodevelopment group at Nestle R&D in 2022, investigating the role of nutrition in brain energy metabolism during neurodevelopment.
