Liona Poon

Professor

Professor Liona Poon is the Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in Hong Kong SAR, China, as well as a Visiting Professor in the Department of Women and Children’s Health at King’s College London, UK. She is dedicated to enhancing maternal and fetal health. With a robust research background, she has published over 300 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact international journals and possesses an H-index of 70. Over the past 19 years, her research has focused on developing a programme for the early prediction and prevention of preeclampsia, a significant cause of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. Through her successful development of a first-trimester prediction model for preeclampsia based on maternal risk factors, ultrasound, blood pressure, and biochemical markers, alongside establishing Aspirin prophylaxis against preeclampsia, her objective is to enhance obstetric care and women’s health globally through clinical research, innovation, education, and advocacy.
